We all know shopping’s great, but #GivingTuesday on the 2nd December is a chance to think about the pressures of Christmas spending and instead asks us to explore opportunities to help the causes we all care about.
#GivingTuesday started in the United States in 2012 and spreading across the globe, with the UK, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Mexico, Latin America and Israel also joining in. It’s the perfect antidote to the start of the festive shopping season, which is kicked off by Black Friday sales and Cyber Monday shopping online.
As the UK’s largest fully licensed, commercial clothes collection company, Clothes Aid are proud to sign up as a partner of #Giving Tuesday alongside household names including Facebook, BT and our partner charity NSPCC. Since 1996 we’ve worked alongside big, small, national and regional charities with equal gusto because we believe we have a lot to offer. There is no investment required from our partner charities for our service. And so far we have contributed over £9 million to UK charities with the great British public’s donations.
If you’re looking for a way to give back this #GivingTuesday, you could consider organising a charity clothes collection at your workplace, school or community group. Clothes Aid can then arrange to collect your donations and will turn them into much needed funds for one of our partner charities.
Clothes Aid can also work with your business, school or community group to set up a yearlong clothing collection scheme, so please contact us if you’re looking for a way to give throughout the year and not just for #GivingTuesday.
