The items in Cancer Support UK’s Kids’ Kits have been suggested by people who know how cancer can affect children.
Cancer Support UK provides practical and emotional support to adults and children with cancer, both during and after the treatment period. They support people with all kinds of cancer across the UK, and their services are designed and delivered by people who have experienced cancer themselves – to improve the experience of others.
Cancer Support UK offer two services to people with cancer. Firstly, they offer free Cancer Kits to people currently undergoing treatment as a practical aid to recovery. They have Cancer Kits, Chemo Kits and Kids’ Kits, which are supplied free of charge, and can be ordered by patients themselves, or by friend and family members.
Eleanor recently received one of our Cancer Kits.
“The Kit was lovely. All of my immediate family had passed away so it was great to have somebody think of practical nice things to help. When you have nobody close to think of you it was nice to think somebody else cared. The items were practical and I loved the lavender spray… which I now buy! But the difference was how it made me feel when I felt so alone and lost.”
Despite a number of contributors providing prevention, diagnostics, treatment and support throughout the cancer journey, 78% of cancer patients still report having unmet emotional needs. Cancer Support UK’s Cancer Coach telephone support groups offer a regular, structured programme for groups of up to six people, to talk through all aspects of living life with cancer. They are led by someone who really knows what it is like to have cancer; they have been there too.
Cancer takes its toll not just physically, but emotionally too. With your kind and generous donations, they can continue to provide their services to people who need support.
Their services are available for as long as it takes.
